It’s Halloween night, and something is … wrong. The predictive lights on her street turn on in a specific pattern, but for the first time in her life, they’re breaking the rules. Does Charlotte break the rules of curfew to follow them?

TRANSCRIPT:

Have you heard the story of the will o’ wisps?

They are a Scottish myth about deadly fairy lights that led travelers off their intended path and into the swampy bogs where they’d drown. they were really just science; the emission of certain gasses decaying. but people really thought the lights would lead to the fairy kingdom.

I always thought I could never be stupid enough to follow strange lights to nowhere, but kids here are always taught to trust the city lights to know the way home.

I was curious, I guess. The street lamps lit up one at a time, which felt wrong – it’s supposed to be in groups of three. I followed them down streets I knew, I had my phone on me, and this is the dome city. There’s cameras everywhere. Nothing bad ever happens here.

Fortunately, the lights didn’t lead me to my death.

Unfortunately, they led me to a ghost.
